Look what happened....
That'll teach me to take my eye of the ball! My allotment has become a jungle! Time to pull my socks up and put in some proper hard work again....
This patch shouldn't take too long to fix.....
On a positive note, I now have two pumpkins growing quite successfully..... This one is approaching bowling ball size.....
While this one is more of a grapefruit size.... They look very different considering the seeds came out of the same packet.....
And then there's this.... It's growing where I put my radishes but I though everything got wiped out by slugs??? Is this what a radish plant looks like? Or are they just weeds? More research needed I suppose!
These runner beans are HUGE! And there's loads more to come aswell. I can see I'm going to need to freeze some.... :-)
Definitely enough for today's dinner....
Some more broccoli and an onion cos I just had to see..... :-) I think I should have left it a bit longer though.....
And of course more spuds!
Unfortunately, I forgot to take any "after" photos so you could see what it was like when I'd done a bit of weeding..... Sorry! Maybe next time :-)
Take care!
Love 'n' hugs,
We've had loads of runner beans, and I've frozen some. I grew my cabbage seeds in my mini greenhouse, put them out to harden off and then planted them. Every one has been eaten by those blasted pigeons!!! But I've got a couple of lovely little yellow pumpkins coming along slowly (about the size of ping-0pong balls).xx
ReplyDeleteYou have picked the broccoli just at the right time as it looks like it's just about to flower -you can tell that when look at the big 'head' on the right of the photo - it's looking 'looser'. So if you have any more, keep a close eye on it as it can turn into yellow flowers in just a couple of days.
ReplyDeleteYou asked the quesetion about my pumpkins - and me picking them as they were getting too big.
The answer to that is that I have lots of pumpkings. The ones I picked are very big, and as there are only the two of us we do get too many. I still have loads left on the plants - I tend to grow them as weed suppressant - and we also store some over the winter, and I roast them, and cook up all sorts of concoctions and freeze them into ready meals. So I will of course have some giant ones too - just wanted some smaller ones - the skin isn't quite to thick on them then
Thank you so much for visiting my blog - you have a wonderful harvest and really are doing well.
The leaf you revealed in your photo - looks like a radish - but it's hard to judge as there is nothing to 'scale' it by. It would normally poke out of the soil a bit. It also looks a bit like a turnip leaf - but if you didn't scatter and of those seeds then it's bound to be a radish. I would have thought that if you scattered seeds that you would have quite a lot more and near each other too. It looks very healthy
